Chukchansigold Casino Remains Closed

Almost three weeks since it was stormed by armed individuals on Oct. 9, the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino remains closed and the case it’s now on the hands of a federal Judge.

Meanwhile 1100 of their employees remain out of work wondering when or if anything will go back to normal.
Sheila Olson, vice president of human resources at Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino, released a statement Thursday, Oct. 16, notifying a majority of their 1,100 employees of the layoffs.
The letter reads as follows:
“As you know, on October 10, 2014 the National Indian Gaming Commission and the California Attorney General ordered the shutdown of Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino (“CGR&C”), located at 711 Lucky Lane, Coarsegold, California 93614. As a result of these actions, you were laid off from your employment. CGR&C will pay you through Oct. 16, 2014. Your layoff date will be Oct. 17, 2014.”

Meanwhile the State Gaming Commission has received all the missing audits and a Judge will hear the case this week, but the State is asking that the casino remains closed until the Tribe can sort things out.

Sheriff John Anderson today announced after reviewing evidence gathered from the October 9, Casino incident, at least 11 individuals have been identified, and are believed to have committed numerous felonies during a take-over attempt, the Madera County DA will most likely file criminal charges.
