Disaster exercise held at Fresno airport

Emergency crews and law enforcement made their way to the Fresno airport today.

Thankfully, it was just a drill. Authorities responded to Fresno Yosemite Airport today for a disaster exercise this morning. The exercise simulated an aircraft disaster. It’s intended to test the airport and Fresno Fire’s response to such an emergency if and when it actually happens.

"Today’s tri-annual exercise is very significant in maintaining and improving safety for passengers, airline personnel, airport tenants, and the community," Vikkie Calderon, with the Fresno Yosemite International Airport, said.

Agencies taking part in the exercise included Fresno Fire, Airport Public Safety, Fresno county deputies and Clovis police.
