Fresno Police trained to handle Baltimore-like situation

Fresno Police are keeping their eyes on the latest developments back east.

Police Chief Jerry Dyer says he believes violence happening here is unlikely, but still, his officers have had training to handle those types of situations. At the end of the day he says the police department is dedicated to keeping the peace.

"We have open lines of communication with our pastors and our churches and members of our community to where we are able to discuss those issues that are of concern without having to resort to civil unrest and violence," Jerry Dyer, the Fresno Police Chief, said.

The chief says the public mistrust of police officers is making it tough do their jobs, but police and community leaders will continue to work together to ease the tension.
