Goodbye Napa?

Rumors are going around that the locally owned Napa Auto Parts store was sold to Giant Auto Parts chain O’Reilly.
Napa Auto parts, family owned by Lester Bridges, the store has been in business since 1966 and has since then been a long standing tradition that started on main street (HWY 140) next to what used to be Mariposa Chevron then on mid 90’s moved into its own place where it has now been for at least 20 years
Friendly and knowledgeable staff awaited customers as they shopped for parts or simply browsed the store to kill some time.
Is this the beginning of a Big Corporation takeover of Mariposa County?
Till now the only “outsiders” store we had was Rite Aid and that stood some local opposition that ended up with Rite Aid Corporation suing for its right to open a store in our county.
Its not that we oppose growth but instead seems like the small store owners mom/pops type of businesses are slowly disappearing and being swallowed by Corporate America.
We tried to reach out to Napa via email to confirm or dismiss the rumors but we got no answer, guess we shall see that the new winds bring our way.
