Health News: Drugs Shrink Tumors & Diet and Cancer Risk

        In health matters…

Cancer doctors are encouraged after a pair of drugs were found to shrink tumors in nearly 60 percent of patients.

British researchers used immune-boosting drugs on patients with advanced skin cancer.

They found the drugs  stopped the cancer from spreading for nearly a year in 58 percent of cases.

The drugs harnessed the body’s immune system to attack cancer cells.

Experts say the treatment may bring about a "whole new era" for successful cancer care.

The drugs are very expensive but patients say they’re worth it.

Ane of the two drugs is already available, but the second its not.

Researchers hope  that will change soon with this new research.

Also, men with prostate cancer could improve their odds of surviving by changing their diet.

A Harvard study shows patients who ate  a lot of red meat, dairy, and refined grains — were two and a half times more likely to die from their prostate cancer than those who avoided these foods.

They also had 67-percent higher risk of dying from any cause.

Experts suggest patients sticking to a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains and fish .
