Historic California hotel damaged in fire

Firefighters are mopping up after an historic hotel is damaged in an early morning fire. A hotel guest reported a fire at the Jeffrey Hotel in Coulterville at about 1 a.m. this morning. Seventy-five firefighters were called to get the fire under control.

Only one room was rented and all hotel guests made it out safely. The Jeffery Hotel was first built in 1851 to help stage coach passengers on their way to Yosemite. the hotel has been home to the oldest operating saloon in the state.
