Lomar Fire (Wildfire)

At approximately 2:20 pm today, Tuesday, March 24, 2015, the Lomar Fire was reported. The location of the smoke was reported in the Piute Mountains, (south of Lake Isabella) near Piute Mountain and Jawbone Canyon Roads. Forest Service and Kern County fire suppression personnel responded. First on scene was Helicopter 408. Original size up at 3:20 pm: 1/4 to 1/2 acre, ground fire burning in sparse fuels. Fire was burning at a slow rate of spread, near the road and the Pacific Crest Trail. By 3:50 pm, Helicopter 408 reported, NO spread on the fire.UPDATE: Lomar Fire resources were released Tuesday evening after line was complete and secured. Mop up is taking place. One Forest Service Engine (47) assigned for Wednesday Mar. 25th. Per Incident Commander, Matt Pinion, containment was reached Wednesday, March 25th. Lomar Fire is in patrol status and control is expected sometime Thursday, Mar. 26th. Fire is still under investigation.
