Lowell Fire (Wildfire)

Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit, Cal Fire. IMT 1 (Gouvea). Location: Two miles west of Gold Run, CA in the Steep Hollow Creek/You Bet area. Actively burning in timber and brush. Active fire behavior with uphill runs, single tree torching and flanking. Numerous structures threatened. Evacuations, road, area and trail closures in effect. Incident Update July 28, 2015 8:30 AM Fire behavior was active through the night with multiple uphill runs. High temperatures and low humidity will continue today. A strengthening inversion will likely keep smoke trapped in drainages for most of the day. Access to the fire is very challenging, with rolling material on steep terrain presenting special safety concerns. Hundreds of firefighters are actively battling the fire in the air and on the ground.
