Police looking for suspect in major tangelo theft

Fresno County Sheriff’s office officials say you should be wary of people selling tangelos along the road. They could be stolen.

A citrus grower in Sanger says he lost more than 2,500 lbs of minneola tangelos. They were taken from his grove, near Highway 180 and South Thompson. Sheriff’s officials say the farmer delayed his harvest, due to the recent port dispute.

Fresno County Sheriff’s Office says it has a distinct nub on top, and has a deeper orange color than other orange varieties. If you see anyone selling minneola tangelos on the roadside, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
