Potwisha Fire

SEQUOIA AND KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARKS, Calif. April 4, 2015– At approximately 1:30 pm on April 4, 2015, a wildfire was reported at the Potwisha Grade in Sequoia National Park.Within 45 minutes, the fire grew to over 7 acres in size. As of 6:00 pm, after the fire was reassessed, it was holding at approximately 20 acres and was 40% contained. Crews from the National Park Service are on scene and being assisted by CalFire both with engines and aircraft.At this time, the fire is now 100% contained. Earlier evacuations have been lifted in both Buckeye and Potwisha Campgrounds, and the Potwisha Overflow parking lot and Hospital Rock Day Use Areas.While the Generals Highway is now open in both directions, visitors are asked to travel slowly as fire crews are still in the area. There are no closures related to the Potwisha Fire at this time in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National
