Shasta-Trinity National Forest JulyLightning Fire Update, 31 July 2015 REDDING, Calif., July 31, 2015 – Between 9 a.m. Thursday morning and 9 a.m. today, the Shasta-Trinity National Forest (NF) received over 223 lightning strikes. This weather system has resulted in over 60 fires throughout the forest, mostly located from the Yolla Bolly Wilderness north through the Trinity Alps. The largest fire at this time is the Happy Fire located near the town of Denny and is approximately 500 acres. Two incident management teams are ordered to provide additional firefighting capabilities. With the large number of fires throughout the area, large amounts of smoke may be present. Residents are urged to remain cautious when traveling in the affected areas. Additional lightning is forecasted across the forest today through tomorrow.
