Shasta-Trinity NF Rx Burns (Prescribed Fire)

The Shasta-Trinity National Forest is planning multiple prescribed burns for the week of March 23-27, 2015 on different units around the forest including: · Project Name: Ney Spring · Agency Contact: Josiah Obst, 530-926-9649 · Descriptive Location: T39N, 4W, Sec. 9 · Type of burn: Hand Pile Burn · Total Acreage: 20 · Planned Ignition: March 23-24, 2015 · Duration of Ignition and Smoke Production: 2 days of ignition and 4 day of smoke production · Estimated Direction of Smoke Travel: North · Communities or Smoke Sensitive Areas: Smoke will be visible from Interstate 5 and Mt. Shasta All project start dates are dependent upon several factors, such as favorable weather and site conditions. Fire Managers will be evaluating conditions and working with the Air Quality Management Board to ensure compliance with air quality regulations and health and safety conditions. Test burns will occur prior to igniting any entire unit to monitor fire behavior and smoke lift and dispersion….
