Weekend Fun: A List of Events Happening in the Valley

Boxing returns to Selland Arena and Kerman is celebrating almonds. Meantime, the Grizzlies are going to a galaxy, far, far away. Here’s your list of weekend fun ideas…
-"Fight for Water 4" returns to Selland Arena with Avenal-native Jose Ramirez defending his light welterweight champion title. The boxing series was developed to help bring much-needed attention to the water issues in the valley. The last match in October was watched by a record 10,000 people. "Fight for Water" is this Saturday at 6pm. Tickets start at $ 18.
-Farmers Market returns to Old Town Clovis Friday night from 5:30-9. Expect fresh veggies, food, carnival and live music from 6-7:30. Also, in Old Town there is a flea market Saturday and Sunday.
-Kerman is starting a new tradition celebrating the heart of its agriculture. The first "Kerman Almond Festival" will be held Saturday. The event will kick off with a run-walk at 9am. The festival begins at 11 with live entertainment, food vendors,  an almond baking contest, kids zone, wine tasting, arts & crafts and a car show. The festival is being held at Kerckhoff Park until 3pm.
-Fresno County 4-H is hosting its annual 4-H Fair. There will be exhibits such as food, clothing, home arts, and creative arts, as well as livestock entries for beef, horse, and goats. It’s a chance for the public to come see what 4-H is about. It’s also a great opportunity for those interested in joining 4-H as clubs will provide hands-on activities for families to enjoy. The fair is from 9-1 at Reedley College Saturday.
-May the Fourth be with you at Chukchansi Park. It’s Star Wars night at the Fresno Grizzlies game Friday. The Fresno Philharmonic will provide pregame theme music. There will also be people in character for photo opportunities. The fireworks show will also be synchronized to Star Wars theme music after the game.
