4 Killed in Crash North of Reedly

Four people were killed in a crash after they were ejected from a mini van.

It happened in a rural area North of Reedly on American and Navalencia Avenues just before 6 pm Friday.

"You come to these crashes you see them over and over again and what happens. You are not wearing your seat belt you come out of the car you come in contact with the asphalt roadway and the asphalt roadway always wins," Sgt. Ed Jacobs with CHP said.

Nine farm workers were driving home in a minivan fit for only eight passengers. CHP says they tried to pass a semi and collided, rolling their vehicle.

The four who were ejected were not wearing their seat belts. The five other passengers were taken to Community Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

The semi truck owner says his driver is shaken up but not hurt.

"You don’t wish death on nobody. You could never wish death on nobody. Even if they are horrible drivers or not you just wish nothing happens to them," Cesar Arellano said.
