Big Super Bowl Celebrations in Visalia

Families all across the Valley watched the Super Bowl and some went bigger than others with their parties.

Preps for the big game at Russell Notturno’s home in Visalia started early. He needed enough food, drinks and flat screens for his 100 guests.

"Here I don’t think you have anything to worry about as far as getting into trouble. Everyone’s looking out after each other. Everyone’s friendly. You have good conversation with everyone and everyone can’t wait for the following year to come back," Notturno said.

He has been throwing big Super Bowl bashes for 17 years and says every year he builds more entertainment space for his guests.

"I wanted to build a cement table. Something that would be nice. Something we can build on. Something for every party we would have," Notturno said pointing to his new table.

Many of the guests are 49ers fans but we found a few Seahawks and Patriot fans in the mix.

And while many had their eyes glued to the television to watch Katy Perry during half time. Others were up for a unique tradition.

"It started off as a little gag," Notturno said. "The next year I showed up with about 50 of them and the next year I showed up with about 100. So every year I show up with 100 goldfish."

They call it a "Fish Shot." They take them with any spirits plus a small goldfish.

"You can feel the fish kinda fluttering down your throat when you swallow it that’s for sure," Brian Torres said.

A unique tradition that may not be for everyone but keeps many coming back every year.
