Cal Fire begins interviewing, plans to hire over 100

Fresno County Cal Fire is interviewing potential firefighter candidates ahead of this year’s fire season. <br /><br />The agency plans to hire more than 100 new fire fighters this year. There’s concern they may need them earlier than usual. The state’s record drought is already leading many to predict a dangerous fire season. <br /><br />&quot;And so that combination together means, especially if we’re going to have another extended period of a very dry Spring that we’ll be seeing fires earlier,&quot;&nbsp;<span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px;">Jim Crawford, CalFire Division Chief said.<br /><br /></span>Cal Fire generally declares fire season in mid-April. They plan to have new firefighters in place by the start of that month.<br /></div>
