Crime Stoppers: Police still looking for Estrada's killer

Our special Crime Stoppers series continues tonight with a look at another valley cold case.

This time we revisit the brutal shooting death of Danny Estrada. Estrada’s killing happened outside a Fresno convenience store, in broad daylight, more than half a decade later his loved ones are still searching for justice.

Vivian del Toro has only pictures and memories of her little brother. Danny Estrada has been gone for almost eight years now. The 22-year-old was gunned down in broad daylight outside a Fresno convenience store.

That fateful day, May 18th, 2007, Estrada had gone to get milk for his little girl, a little girl now left to wonder why her father was taken so soon. A Crime Stoppers re-enactment shows Estrada leaving the store on Maple and Blackstone, only to be shot as he tries to get into his truck. Although Estrada’s killing was captured on surveillance video, there’s yet to be an arrest. It’s an agonizing reality for those left behind who so desperately want answers.

Del Toro says it’s her family’s faith that’s helped them carry on. In the meantime, they’ve continued their quest for justice, working with police and victim’s advocate groups to keep the investigation going, but until someone is held accountable there can be no real closure.

If you have any information on the murder of Danny Estrada you’re urged to call Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP. You will remain anonymous and your tip could be worth up to $5,000.
