Driver Killed Avoiding Animal

<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;CHP Officers say a male was driving a BMW at high speeds on Shepherd near Fowler&nbsp;in Fresno when the accident happened on Tuesday morning.&nbsp; The unidentified victim was heading westbound while crossing Fowler when he tried to avoid a skunk, which lead to the fatal crash. &quot;At a high rate of speed, the vehicle lost control in an attempt to avoid an animal in the roadway.&nbsp; He lost control and went off the roadway and collided with a power line and a tree,&quot; said Sgt. Joe Zagorski.<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The driver collided into a power pole, completely severing it, then ran into a tree. He was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.&nbsp; CHP closed the intersection during the investigation and to remove the car from the site.&nbsp; PG &amp; E was also called on scene to repair the down power line. The driver’s identity has not been released.</div>
