DUI Suspect Pleads Not Gulity, Victim's Family Asks For Community Help

The man accused of killing two people while driving drunk made his first appearance in court Wednesday. Hector Castillo Pichardo was arraigned Wednesday morning and pleaded not guilty to several charges. Meanwhile, the family of the victims are preparing to lay their loved ones to rest.<br /><br /> 23-year-old Hector Castillo Pichardo stood before a judge Wednesday and pleaded not guilty.<br /><br /> Deputy district attorney Trevor Oppliger says, &quot;He was charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter and two counts of DUI causing great bodily injury.&quot;<br /><br /> Castillo-Pichardo is accused of killing two people while driving under the influenc; his passenger 32-year-old Oscar Felix and the driver of another vehicle 23-year-old old Molly Griffin.<br /><br /> Castillo-Pichardo’s defense attorney Scott Baly says, &quot;I can see that this was his first time in a felony court room and he is expressing some remorse about what happened last weekend.&quot;<br /><br /> It was a tragic night that changed so many lives forever.<br /><br /> Oscar Felix’s three young daughters are remembering their father by sending him messages through handmade cards and letters.<br /><br /> His 7-year-old twin daughter made a card saying, &quot;You were a really good dad. I miss you.&quot;<br /><br /> His 12 year old daughter,&nbsp; Mayra wrote a letter to her dad saying,&nbsp; &quot;Please take care of my sisters and my mom and help them not be sad anymore.&quot;<br /><br /> The family says they’re staying busy planning a fundraiser where they will sell tacos and baked goods to raise money to give Felix a proper burial in Mexico. The tacos are being donated by two local taquerias.<br /><br /> Mayra says, &quot;He always talked about wanting to see his parents because he hasn’t seen his dad in 16 years.&quot;<br /><br /> The loved ones of an innocent victim are now left reaching out for help – -<br /><br /> &quot;Right now we honestly don’t have the money to send him back,&quot; says Mayra.<br /><br /> – – as they live through a real life nightmare.<br /><br /> Myra says &quot;It’s still hard to believe that my dad is not coming back and that we’re going to grow up without a dad. It’s just hard right now.&quot;<br /><br /> The fundraiser for Oscar Felix will start at 5 p.m. Saturday, February 28th at the corner of Shields and Channing in Fresno – right across the street from the Valero gas station.<br /><br /> A Bank of America account has also been set up for Oscar Felix. Donations can be made in Oscar’s wife’s name, Karla Beltran.<br /><br /> Castillo Pichardo is being held on $330,000 bail. He is expected to be back in court for a preliminary hearing on March 23rd. <div></div></div>
