EXCLUSIVE: Molly Griffin's Family Say They Forgive Alleged DUI Driver who is Accused of Killing

<font size="2"><p>The family of 23-year old Fresno woman, Molly Griffin, spoke exclusively to our cameras on Sunday night. Doug Griffin, Molly’s father, said he and his family forgive 23-year old Hector Castillo-Pichardo, the man accused of driving under the influence and allegedly killing Molly on Saturday night. The Fresno Police Department said Castillo-Pichardo blew through a red light at Friant Road and Copper River Drive in Northeast Fresno on Saturday night and hit Molly’s SUV. Castillo-Pichardo was allegedly driving under the influence and police said he is unlicensed. A passenger in Castillo-Pichardo’s truck also died. Police said 32-year old Oscar Felix of Fresno died.</p><p>The other passenger in Molly’s car is in critical condition and police said she has undergone surgery for a lacerated aorta, and has a brain bleed and fractured hip. Police said Castillo-Pichardo suffered minor injuries in the crash.</p><p>Molly’s family said Molly was pulling out of Copper River Drive out of the Granville housing subdivision because she was in the final stages of purchasing her own home in that area.</p>Doug said, &quot;We’re praying for the family of the other man who died at the scene and his children, and for the driver.&quot;<br /><br />Doug said forgiveness is a part of his healing process.<br /><br />&quot;Many of us made a lot of mistakes and none of us are perfect. Just pray for this young man. He’s got a very tough road in front of him. Just pray that God will bring something good out of this for him,&quot; said Doug.<br /><br />Doug and his family said forgiveness is what Molly would have wanted.<br /><br />He said, &quot;She had such a big heart, you know? She had already started working at Madera Community, was doing gang busters there. Was very, very successful, and that compassion that she had for others.&quot;<br /><br />Doug said Molly was caring and dedicated. She became a registered nurse at 22 and graduated just last year from Fresno State’s nursing program.<br /><br />&quot;Molly was just a joy to be around. She just had an incredible wonder about her. People just loved her,&quot; said Doug.<br /><br />Doug said he challenges anyone who knew Molly to find mercy in their hearts for Castillo-Pichardo. He said his thoughts are also with Felix’s family, as well as the 23-year old passenger who was in the car with their daughter.<br /><br />Doug said, &quot;Ya he shouldn’t have gotten behind the wheel, but he didn’t get behind the wheel to hurt her. He never intended to do that.&quot;<br /><br />Castillo-Pichardo faces multiple charges including felony DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter, and great bodily injury. His bail is set at $242,100 and his arraignment is expected to be on Tuesday, February 24.</font></div>
