Fire at vacant home near McKenzie and Backer

Investigators are looking into what caused a house to catch fire, and they believe it could be arson. <br /><br />The fire started around 6:30 this morning at McKenzie and Backer in east-central Fresno. Crews got it under control in about 15 minutes. <br /><br />Investigators say it’s a vacant home, but it looks like someone’s living there. <br /><br />&quot;There’s evidence that someone has been using it for shelter. We’re not sure if that individual is the rightful occupant and owner, or if someone’s using it temporarily and trespassing,&quot;&nbsp;Battalion Chief Lawrence French, from Fresno Fire&nbsp;said.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br />No reports of any injuries. Damages are estimated at $5,000.<br /><br /></div>
