Merced firefighters responded to a home in the 1100 block of Barney Street in Merced at 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, and found a detached garage fully engulfed with flames, according to Merced Fire Battalion Chief Corey Haas. Firefighters were able to stop the fire from reaching the home. A preliminary investigation found that no one was inside at the time, Haas said.
