Picking season started early this year, but farmers are eager to educate the public on how the drought is impacting their yield. Fifth generation farmer and co-owner of Simonian Farms Dennis Simonian shared some words of encouragement with all the participants, "keep stron and stick with it".
He says education is key to moving the industry forward.
"We are educating them in all aspects of this trail, every person has a story to tell about how they started", said Dennis.
Dennis’ wife and co-owner of Simonian Farms Bonnie says, some people may not realize how serious the drought is, and the fruit trail gives visitors the opportunity to ask questions and the growers the opportunity to educate.
This year the trail consists of thirty growers and twelve strawberry stands.
