Fresno Firefighter Arrested on Rape Allegations

A Fresno Fire Department employee was arrested Friday&nbsp;on rape and sexual assault charges.<br /><br />Jeffrey Sanchez, 36,&nbsp;works as a firefighter at the department, according to Mark Standriff, spokesperson for the City of Fresno.<br /><br />Fresno County&nbsp;Sheriff’s deputies arrested Sanchez&nbsp;Friday&nbsp;at his home in Fresno.<br /><br />According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, a 19-year-old&nbsp;woman reported that Sanchez raped her.<br /><br />The woman told investigators that she was out with friends&nbsp;Thursday night&nbsp;at a bar. She said&nbsp;she met some men, including Sanchez, and the group&nbsp;went back to Sanchez’s home. There they had alcoholic drinks.&nbsp;The woman told&nbsp;investigators that Sanchez took her into a bedroom and forced her into having sex.<br /><br />Detectives said they interviewed witnesses and collected evidence, and that’s when they took Sanchez into custody.&nbsp;<br /><br />Sanchez is facing charges of rape and sexual assault.&nbsp;<br /><br />A spokesperson with the Fresno Fire Department referred all questions to Standriff, the City of Fresno spokesperson. Standriff said it is too early in the investigation to comment.<br /><br />Sanchez bailed out of the Fresno&nbsp;County Jail&nbsp;after posting bail of $105,000.<br /><br />According to detectives,&nbsp;it’s possible that Sanchez has had inappropriate behavior in the past with others.&nbsp;They ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.</div>
