Bulldog gang members arrested after a series of shooting in north Fresno.

The shootings occurred about two weeks ago three shootings in 24 hours.

They were all in Pinedale in north Fresno.

Police conducted a gang sweep in response to the violence. Four people were arrested. And several guns seized.

Fresno police say they had a similar problem with these two rival gangs about two years ago, shootings that put innocent people in danger as well as gang members. So officers tracked those gang members down, and put them behind bars.

Pinedale in north Fresno has been the scene of a gang feud. Two rival gangs, fighting, and shooting at each other.

Luckily, no one was injured. But police figured out who was behind it and served search warrants around the city.

"We took several weapons off the street," said Lt. Mark Salazar with the Fresno Police Department.

Among the weapons: a handgun, sawed off shot gun, and what police describe as an assault-type rifle, that was purchased ‘legally’ but then shared with known criminals.

"We got information that it was being used among other Bulldog gang members and it was being passed along. So we seized it," Lt. Salazar said.

Police arrested four gang members including a father and son, Edward and Eddie Morales. Each is facing weapons charges.

People who live and work in the area are happy to see police taking steps to improve safety. And arresting those responsible.

"Anyone who wants to take the law into their own hands with guns and stuff and put other people in danger, it’s scary. They need to be off the streets," said James, who works in the area.

Police say this isn’t the end of their crackdown on these rival gangs.

"We did that just to put a band-aid on it. We have more work to do. And we’re not done with the issue," Lt. Salazar said.

Police are still looking for the gunman in those three shootings.

If you see gang activity in your area, give police a call. You can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
