Gaston Middle School celebrates African American history

Students at Gaston Middle School held their first African American History Month celebration today. <br /><br />They kicked off the celebration with an assembly. It featured dancing, music, and information on how African Americans have helped shape America’s history and culture. <br /><br />&quot;We wanted to get students involved in teaching their peers about African American culture, so that’s why we wanted to make sure it was student led. So, it’s been real exciting, planning along with them,&quot; Lisa Nichols, from Gaston Middle School.<br /><br />School officials say they want to make it an annual event.<br /><br /></div>
