Grizzlies give turkey dinners to Fresno families

The Fresno Grizzlies and several other Downtown Fresno businesses came together to give back to local families. One hundred Downtown Fresno families were selected to receive a full turkey dinner with all the fixings. It is a joint effort between the Fresno Grizzlies, Grocery Outlet in Downtown Fresno, Shepherd’s Inn, and OK Produce. Chris Callier owner of Downtown Fresno’s Grocery Outlet contributed by donating 100 turkeys and reusable bags. He says in order to make Downtown Fresno successful you need to invest in it’s community members.

“We have the honor of running a downtown business, but this is a time where we get to do something for our community”, said Callier.

In order to target families in need that live in the Downtown Fresno area the Grizzlies solicited the help of local city council member and churches.
Fresno Grizzlies communications manager Ryan Young said, “we really wanted to focus on families that were in the downtown area we are all downtown businesses and organizations we want to make sure that we are giving back to the same people that are living around us”.

Mariah Castro and her family were one of the families selected for the free turkey dinner.
“It feel really good because I know that people do care about people”, said Castro.
The Grizzlies organization says after seeing the success of this event, they plan to have more charity events for the community in the near future.
