Grow house fire near Fowler and Clinton

A house on Fowler near Clinton in Fresno county goes up in flames.

Investigators say marijuana was being grown at the home. Inside they found about 50 plants. The fire started on the second floor. People were reportedly stealing electricity from PG&E to power their pot growing operation which led to the fire, but firefighters say fires like this can happen even if they’re paying for electricity.

"They overload the circuits and so we get a lot of fires that are like this, where they’re actually paying for the electrical, they just don’t hook it up correctly," Pete Martinez, Staff Officer/PIO Fresno Fire said.

Witnesses reported seeing people inside taking off once they heard sirens coming. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating.
