High Five: Five Fun Weekend Events in the Valley

<div>Something for your sweet heart or sweet tooth, Mardi Gras in the valley and remembering a coaching legend. Here’s a handful of events happening this weekend in your High Five report:</div><div><br /></div><div>-It’s a wine &amp; chocolate weekend on the Madera Wine Trail. You and your sweetheart can sample chocolates and stroll through Madera wineries. There will also be delicious food and shopping. The Madera Wine Trail’s &quot;Wine &amp; Chocolate Weekend&quot; is Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 on-line and are good for both days.</div><div><br /></div><div>-Here’s your chance to watch short films that are up for Academy Awards. Tonight is the last night of the Fresno Filmworks event to screen the films at the Tower District. The categories are Live Action at 5:30 and Animation at 8:30. You will also get the red carpet treatment beforehand, complete with a photobooth and Oscar statutes. Tickets are $10 and $15 for a double-feature.</div><div><br /></div><div>-Take a drive to Yosemite this weekend and get in for free. Park officials are waiving entrance fees for the President’s Day weekend. Fees will be waived Saturday through Monday.</div><div><br /></div><div>-Mardi Gras is coming to the Tower District. It’s the 18th Annual Mardi Gras Celebration. This year’s theme: Jungle Safari. A parade kicks off the festivities Sunday at 1pm at Olive and Fruit Avenues. Tower restaurants will be serving up cajun and creole meal specials all week long for lunch and dinner.</div><div><br /></div><div>-Fresno State Men’s Basketball returns to the Save Mart Center this weekend to take on Boise State. It’ll be an emotional game as it’s the first one played by the Men’s team since this week’s passing of coaching legend Jerry Tarkanian. A moment of silence will be held. Fans can also sign cards by Coach Tark’s legacy display on the northwest concourse. Bulldogs’ Head Coach Rodney Terry will also leave an empty seat by press row on the bench with a white towel just like Tark used at all of his games.</div><div><br /></div></div>
