Literacy Success at Central Unified School District

<font size="2">Central Unified School District and Biola Elementary discusses early development and literacy. The B3 program Birth to Third Grade has been implemented in the district for two years now and has been a success. <p>There are 14 elementary schools in the district and two schools have been selected to have the B3 program in the school because of low reading scores, lack of readiness and preparedness.</p> <p>Several elementary schools in Fresno County received a B3 grant, and with that money additional resources can be provided for these schools.</p> <p>We visited Biola Elementary, their focus is working with parents and getting them more involved with their child’s early learning. One successful resource that the school has been using is a home-based educator. An educator goes into the homes of students to discuss the importance of literacy. </p> </font></div>
