Museum gold is gone forever, court hears

Robbers likely used pliers to crush and destroy rare gold specimens following a Sept. 28, 2012 raid on the California State Mining and Mineral Museum, a gold expert told a county courtroom last week.
It’s still not clear exactly how much of the stolen gold may have been recovered.
