Parks Fee Hike The National Park Service has backed off its plan to raise entrance fees at popular parks like Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon to $ 70. Under a revised plan announced Thursday, the new entrance fee would be $ 35.00 starting June 1. The park service says the majority of the increased revenue will stay in the parks to help on a backlog of maintenance. Overall, across all parks, entrance fees rise $ 5 under the new plan. Tulare County District Maps Draw Scrutiny The Dolores Huerta Foundation is threatening to sue the Tulare County Board of Supervisors over district maps that they say deprive Latino voters of appropriate representation. The move – which was first reported by KGET – follows similar efforts that have caused Kern County Supervisors and the Kern High School District to re-draw district lines. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 64 percent of Tulare County residents are Latino, but Latinos don’t occupy any of the county’s five supervisorial seats. A
