Standoff Ends with Attempted Murder Suspect in Custody

<div>The search for an attempted murder suspect&nbsp;ended&nbsp;after a standoff of more than 4 hours near Selma. Steven Blake Wasson, 24, of Selma,&nbsp;was wanted for attempted murder in Hanford.</div><div><br /></div><div>The Fresno County SWAT team had the area of Willow and Mt. View Avenues blocked off for several hours Monday.</div><div><br /></div><div>&quot;He was hiding, it sounds like, in a trash dumpster on the property. He was taken into custody without further incident,&quot; said Deputy Chris Curtice, public information officer with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. </div><div><br /></div><div>Authorities believe Wasson was involved in a shooting on December 17 in Hanford.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Before the standoff, Hanford police tracked him in southern Fresno County where a high speed chase started, but police lost him.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Detectives then tracked him again after witnesses saw him enter a home or trailer on Willow near Mt. View Avenue.</div><div><br /></div><div>&quot;When he was seen going into that home, they did make contact with the homeowner who was inside the residence, and they got her out,&quot; Curtice said.</div><div><br /></div><div>the Fresno County&nbsp;SWAT team set&nbsp;up a perimeter,&nbsp;blocking neighbors from entering their homes for several hours.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>&quot;So we went to work, then tried to go back home–back at 5 and it was closed,&quot; said Mauricio Gomez, who lives nearby.</div><div><br /></div><div>The Clovis Police Department&nbsp;SWAT team and the CHP were also called in for assistance.</div><div><br /></div><div>Hanford police are now&nbsp;handling the investigation.<br /></div></div>
