Beckwourth Lightning Complex (Wildfire)

On Saturday afternoon (June 27), a series of very active thunderstorms moved over the eastern portion of the Plumas National Forest resulting in over 600 lightning strikes. The Beckwourth Lightning Complex is composed of several lightning fires located on the Plumas National Forest, Beckwourth Ranger District. Firefighters have responded to approximately 15 new lightning fires in the complex. Currently, all fires remain under 2 acres in size. A number of firefighting resources have arrived to support fire operations. Fire managers will continue to monitor the weather situation, as more thunderstorms are predicted the next few days. Firefighters are in place and prepared to respond to any additional new starts if necessary. Resources continue to patrol the forest for any new fire starts. Local residents and forest visitors may see areas of smoke and an increase in fire vehicle traffic. The complex is currently being managed by a Plumas National Forest Type 3 Incident Management…
