Cutca Fire (Wildfire)

The Cutla Fire is currently being reported at 200 acres and is holding for now. It was reported at 4:00 pm yesterday, Friday July 24, 2015. Fire is located in steep and inaccessible terrain east of Cutca Valley and south of Long Canyon 2 mile north of the Palomar Observatory in the Cleveland National Forest, http://www.fs.usda.gov/cleveland By nightfall, the incident was able insert 2 hotshot crews by helicopter. These crews worked through the night. Fire fighters were able to make good progress by fighting the fire by using direct attack with air support. Tonight, crews will experience temps in the high 50’s with no chance of rain. Firefighters will remain on the fireline overnight with crews maintaining a presence in the community and around the Palomar Observatory providing for community structure protection.
