Fresno Police Search for Armed & Dangerous Gunman

People who live in a northwest Fresno neighborhood are rattled after a shooting on a normally quiet street.

It happened in front of several small children.

Police are searching for the gunman who started it all.

The shooting happened on the 4800 block of Delbert Avenue near Highway 99 and Shaw Avenue.

Investigators are looking for 24-year-old Lee Ricks-Wynne. Police say he ran off after he shot his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend. And did so in front of his own children.

Neighbors poured into the street at noon on Delbert Avenue.
Alerted by the sound of the police helicopter above.

"They’re really quiet, mainly." A neighbor, who asked not to be identified, said the family who lives at the home where the shooting occurred doesn’t usually draw much attention. He said the family has several young children.

"I always see their kids outside playing basketball on the little basketball court they used to have up there," the neighbor said.

Police say those children were in the house when their father Lee Ricks-Wynne shot their mother’s new boyfriend just before noon on Monday.
Witnesses say the victim was at the house when Ricks-Wynne drove up.
The two men argued. Then neighbors heard one shot followed by two to three shots.

"It looks like not only the shooter had a gun but also the victim. So there was an exchange of gunfire here," said Lt. Joe Gomez, with the Fresno Police Department.

Several small children were close to the gunfire.

"And the suspect’s children were in the house at the time. They are juveniles. They got scared and they ran out the back," Lt. Gomez said.

None of the children were hurt.
The victim was shot in the thigh and is expected to be ok.

The truck belonging to Ricks-Wynne was parked in the driveway. Police say he ran off and was last seen on Shaw near Highway 99.
