Man Critically Injured in Northwest Fresno Gas Station Shooting

A man in his 20s is in critical condition after being shot multiple times at a gas station in northwest Fresno.

It happened at 12:50 p.m. Friday at the Chevron on Shaw Avenue near the 99.

Police say the victim has non-life threatening injuries and is being treated at Fresno Community Regional Medical Center.

Police say he was shot in the elbow, leg, and the back, but the bullet got stuck in his chest.

The victim parked his truck near the gas pumps and was standing near the passenger side when police say the suspect’s car pulled up.

Police say the suspect was the driver, an African-American male with two African-American females also inside the car.

Police don’t believe the shooting was gang related. They believe the suspect may have been angry after the victim flirted with the females in the car.

"I understand he was maybe hitting on the females that were in the car. The next thing you know, the driver shoots through the passenger window of his vehicle, because you see–there’s video of it–you see the female passenger get back like this; he shoots in front of her and hits the victim," said Lt. Joe Gomez with the Fresno Police Department.

The suspect is still on the loose. Police say he drove off eastbound on Shaw with the females also inside the car.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a brownish-grey two-door car, possibly a Honda Civic or an Accord.

Anyone with information should call Fresno Police or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP to remain anonymous.
