11th annual Power Walking Challenge

Hundreds of students made their way to Woodward Park for a special challenge today.

It’s all part of the 11th annual Power Walking Challenge. More than 400 special education students took park in the event. Many took the challenge by walking, jogging or independently pushing themselves in wheelchairs.

The course was one mile long and it’s meant to boost their health.

"They are not competing against each other. They actually , we collect their scores for the beginning of the year, and their goal is to improve over the year and so today, they’re competing against themselves to improve," Ben Canzano, with the Fresno Co. Office of Education, said.

The event was put on by the Fresno County Office of Education.
