2015 Mother of the Year

A Fresno mother of five is honored for her hard work and dedication.

The Fresno County Women’s Chamber of Commerce surprised this year’s Mother of the Year. A NICU nurse and mother to some of the valley’s most helpless babies is selected as this year’s Mother of the Year.

Kristie Robinson, mother of 5, NICU nurse and now Fresno County’s Mother of the Year. Her co-workers, friends and family agree, they say Kristie is an extraordinary person.

"She is a phenomenal woman, she is the best mother I have ever known," Luanne Pinedo, the person that nominated Kristie, said.

"Kristie is a servant in ever way that I can think of," Amy Snell, a patient’s mother, said.

"This is what I do, not only at work, but at home. I love being a mom a love being a wife, so it just feels like everyone should get recognized for that," Kristie Robinson said.

But Kristie does so much more than that, her compassion and care for her patients and their family transcends beyond her work hours. Amy Snell met Kristie when she became her baby’s nurse.

"We just mentioned that we had a need for a place to stay and she didn’t hesitate to say, we have a fifth wheel in our backyard it’s hooked up and ready to go," Amy Snell, a patient’s mother, said.

At home, Kristie is a mother to five active children including an autistic son, and cares for her quadriplegic brother in law.

"I grew up overseas in Indonesia, which is a third world country. So I grew up with my family helping others," Robinson said.

An experience that has stayed with her through her adult life. When the newly selected mother of the year was asked what a mom is, she has this to say: "A mom provides support, and kind of walks along side. There are different times when we are more involved than others. A mom loves her children loves them unconditionally but directs them."

In addition to today’s celebration, a banquet will be held in honor of Kristie on May 8th.
