Applegate Fire (Placer County) Started 10/08/2014, updated 10/12/2014

Unburned islands well within the perimeter continue to burn. Steep terrain and
weakened trees have proven challenging for firefighters. Crews continue to improve existing control lines
and mop-up of the fire interior. Fire suppression repair work has begun and PG&E has re-stored energy to
the areas affected. As residents return please drive with caution as crews continue to work. As the need for
fire resources diminishes they will be released and made available for other incidents within the State. A
forecast of higher winds and lower humidity has prompted a Red Flag Warning for the Sacramento Valley
with the potential of lasting through Monday. The projected containment date is October 13 2014.
