Families in a Tracy neighborhood can now breath a sigh of relief after an encounter that usually only happens in the wild.

It’s not everyday you see a large sleeping bear fall from a tree in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Hundreds of people showed up for the unusual sight, cheering crews on. They used a tarp to catch him.

One of the neighborhood kids even snapped a selfie with the bear. It took three tranquilizer shots to put the adult bear to sleep and hours for it to fall out of the tree.

The bear is expected to be ok and will be released either somewhere in Marin County or Yosemite.
