After cancelling California rallies due to a health scare in October, presidential candidate and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders will be coming to Fresno this week. Sanders’ campaign is hosting a “ Green New Deal Rally ” at Fresno City College Friday evening at 6 p.m. The free event at the Veterans Peace Memorial Lawn is open to the public. The Deal is a congressional resolution to reduce fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions, and transition the economy to largely support clean energy industries. This is Sanders’ sixth trip to California for his 2020 campaign; the Fresno rally is the first stop. Sanders is also slated to visit Long Beach and Los Angeles this weekend. Back in October, his campaign had planned a stop in Bakersfield, but it’s unclear if that visit will be rescheduled.
