City Council make a deal with the Grizzlies’ owners

A new deal is going to make it easier for the current owners of the Fresno Grizzlies to operate, and sweeten the deal for whoever buys the team.

The team’s current owners appeared before the Fresno City Council today to re-negotiate terms. They currently pay the city $ 125,000 a month to lease the stadium, a total of $ 1.5 million a year. Eighty-five thousand dollars a month will now be deferred. The new monthly payment to $ 40,000.

The deferred payment will have to be paid when the sale of the team is finalized to sweeten the deal. The city will charge the new owners $ 750,000 a year to lease the stadium. It will be paid in five installments that will be made from April to August. The Grizzlies are now a AAA affiliate of the Houston Astros.
