Clovis woman forced to take down lost dog signs

A Clovis woman is not letting a city ordinance that bans posting signs on utility poles from stopping her from finding her dog.

"Our other dog is not acting the same and we are missing her immensely," Jaimy Gains said.

Gains lost her black miniature schnauzer in April. She put up dozens of signs around her neighborhood near Buchanan High school.

"They advised there is a municipal code in the city that does not allow people to post flyers or signs on utility poles," Gains said.

Faced with fines she worked out a deal to keep some of the smaller flyers up but was told Friday those would have to come down too.

"I’m not somebody that put up a flyer and is sitting at home doing nothing. I am out in the community knocking on doors looking for her," Gaines said.

She says she respects the law. We found her in the triple digit heat, removing the signs she put up at 15 intersections.

The City of Clovis has been working with her to reach her ultimate goal to find Lainey.

"They allowed me to have more information on what I could do rather than saying you can’t do this you can’t do that," Gains said.

Now she is working with neighbors and businesses to put signs up. Her facebook page "Bring Lainey Home" has over 1,700 likes. People from all over the country are trying to help find Lainey. In the process Gains is helping other dogs find their way home.

"We’ve saved almost 20 dogs from the streets that we’ve gotten calls from. We’ve been able to pick up injured dogs and return them to their owners," Gains said.
