Clovis Woman Shot Multiple Times by Boyfriend of 16-years, Suspect on the Run

Clovis Police are searching for a man accused of shooting his girlfriend multiple times in front of their home near Villa and Sierra Avenues just after 10pm on Saturday night. Investigators said the suspect is 32-year old Bernardo Madueno. Madueno is accused of shooting his girlfriend multiple times and then fleeing the scene before officers arrived. Police said this case appears to be domestic violence.

Sergeant Jim Koch with Clovis PD said on Sunday that the victim, who is in her late 20’s, is in fair condition.

One neighbor said he ran to the woman’s side after he heard the gun shots. Jim Grace, who lives just a few doors down, said he saw the couple’s four children nearby.

"I walked up to her and I saw blood immediately. She was covered from probably her head to her waist in blood," said Grace.

Koch said, "He Madueno was last seen driving a four-door Toyota Camry, and we don’t have a license plate for the vehicle at this time."

Grace recalled, "I thought, ‘Oh, this could be bad.’ She said she had been shot in the face and then lower extremity on the body too. But I thought the facial ones were the ones I thought were really concerned because they could go, cause something quite serious."

Police said there is no recorded history of domestic violence between the couple. Madueno could face charges of attempted murder, according to police.

If you have any information on Madueno’s whereabouts, you are urged to contact Clovis Police or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
