CV Honor Flight Gets a Heroes Welcome Home

It’s a scene that gives many of us chills.
Dozens of veterans returned to the Fresno airport Thursday night to a heroes welcome home as part of the 7th Central Valley Honor Flight.
World War II and Korean War veterans from the valley spent three days this week touring sites in the nation’s capitol, such as the World War II Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.
Last night, the community welcomed them back home.
It’s the welcome home many of them never received upon their return from war.
"When I got started down that parade there I couldn’t believe it and I just became overwhelmed to think that people would take that time to come out and welcome us back," World War II Veteran Frank Machado.
As you can imagine, the veterans were enthusiastic about taking the trip of a lifetime and have a lot of stories to share.
KSEE24’s Patrick Nelson went along with them.
Look for his special reports.
