Current Situation:
Firefighters continue to construct containment lines while strengthening and securing control lines. All lines will be reinforced and mopped up and patrols will begin in certain area of the fire. Last night firefighters were able to make good progress due to cooler temperatures and higher humidity over the fire. High temperatures and low humidity will continue for the next few days. Today firefighters will continue to actively battle the fire from the air and on the ground.

Residents need to be prepared for this fire season. The prolonged drought has cause epidemic levels of Bark Beetles that have increased tree mortality to over 66 million dead trees.

Evacuations:
Recommended Evacuation: Bear Valley Springs, residents to the north and west of the intersection of Deer Trail Drive and Starland Trail.

Precautionary Evacuation: Residents in the community of Hart Flat are advised to prepare for evacuation.

Road Closures:
Road Closure: Deer Trail and Starland Trail “Starland Loop”.
Road Closure Lifted: Highway 223 was reopened yesterday July 02, 2016.
