Fire Season

The Fire Season is upon us and after a scare for some folks in the Foothills, Firefighters are once again warning residents about fire
On Monday, a large blaze broke out on Auberry Road – near Millerton Road.

Today, Firefighters are emphasizing the need for folks in the foothills to have a "defensible space" around their homes. There are new brochures warning that when tall, dry grass, surrounds your home, the risk of losing it a brush fire goes way up.

Mike Bowman/Cal Fire Battalion Chief: "We have four inspectors in the Fresno county area that are going out to homes meeting with homeowners handing additional important information on them on how to clear their home."
Cal Fire says, homeowners in the foothills who don’t clear a defensible space face a 50-dollar fine.
