Fresno Fire Department gets Peta award for saving puppy

The Fresno Fire Department has received a national award for showing compassion when rescuing a puppy last week that fell down a well.

PETA’s "Compassionate Fire Department Award" is on its way to the Fresno Fire Department. The animal rights group recognized firefighters for their quote "patience and determination."

Timmy, the puppy, fell down an uncovered, 50 ft hole in his family’s garage. Rescuers spent more than an hour turning Timmy’s frightening ordeal into a happy ending. PETA is sending the Fresno Fire Department a framed certificate, a box of delicious vegan cookies and a plant-based cookbook designed for firefighters.
