Funding issues may force CSU to turn away students

While students in the UC system are facing a tuition hike, freshmen trying to just get in could be turned away next year.<br /><br />Cal State officials say they face the prospect of turning away thousands of eligible students because state funding is not keeping pace with enrollment needs. The system is also expecting greater than usual numbers of community college transfer students next year. <br /><br />Governor Brown’s multi-year funding plan calls for an extra $119 million for both the Cal State and UC systems, but Cal State officials say the amount is short by $97 million.&nbsp;<br /></div>
